Power Mob w Kevin Phillips & Anna Edwards

This session will offer participants the ability to match features of a powered mobility system with the consumer in mind. Ms. Edwards has been a practicing physical therapist for over 30 years. She has clinical experience in a variety of settings: acute, ambulatory, rehabilitation, home health, psychiatric, school and private practice with pediatric, geriatric, orthopedic and neurology patient populations. She also has experience in health care management and service operations. She continues to practice in pediatrics and consults in the evaluation and selection of assistive technology and power mobility systems for persons with developmental disabilities across the lifespan. Kevin Phillips has been a RTS for several years. He has been a NRRTS Registrant since 2002 and is also a member of RESNA. Kevin speaks at national conferences such as the International Seating Symposium and Canadian Seating and Mobility Conference, on seating and mobility topics, specializing in seating for function. Pelvic Stab w M. Lange & D.Hintzman

This course will present strategies for positioning the pelvis for stability, function, orthopedic alignment and comfort. Seating challenges, including pelvic posterior tilt, anterior tilt, obliquity and rotation will be presented in the context of user and wheelchair causative factors. Strategies to address each seating challenge will then be discussed in the context of the goals of the intervention. These goals also can be used for funding justifications. Dave is president of Bodypoint Designs, and Michelle evaluates children and adults in the areas of positioning, mobility, access to communication devices and computers, and electronic aids to daily living. Bariatric Seating with Pat Meeker, PT

Participants in this session will be able to identify the scope and problems associated with obesity and bariatrics, identify the causes and dynamics of bariatric clients medical management, demonstrate various safety issues associated with the bariatric client, describe the solutions for choosing appropriate equipment and caring for the bariatric client’s skin, understand the challenges faced in seating and wheeled mobility and will discuss the multidisciplinary team efforts to plan the bariatric client’s care.
