Changes to NRRTS Continuing Education Requirements

NRRTS is constantly striving to raise the professional level of NRRTS Registrants to enhance the status of NRRTS Registration in our industry and profession. Our initiative for 2010 includes making a change in the continuing education requirement for NRRTS renewal.

The current requirement for renewal:

Fifteen contact hours of continuing education relating to the provision of Complex Rehab seating, wheeled mobility and other assistive technology. Please visit www.nrrts.org and view or download the document under NRRTS Registration/Renewals tab entitled "Continuing Education Standards Quick Reference Guide."

The new requirement for renewal:

Fifteen contact hours of continuing education, as listed above. A minimum of seven contact hours must be eligible for CEUs as awarded by University of Pittsburgh; RESNA or other IACET certified organization. This equates to .7 CEUs.

This change is effective in January 2010, but a grace period will extend to all 2010 renewals. Registrants have a year to plan for applicable continuing education credits for their 2011 renewals.

We have also instituted one additional change to make the continuing education requirement for renewal easier on our Registrants.

Should a Registrant acquire more CEUs than necessary for his/her annual renewal, it may be possible to roll the CEUs earned, above the required amount, into the following year’s renewal requirement. The extra CEUs must be for a single event/session. We will not divide an event/session’s CEUs (like those awarded for the ISS or Heartland Conference or CELA) and roll a partial CEU award to the next renewal year.

Continuing Education Credits/Continuing Education Units, required to fulfill educational requirements for registration must be documented using the Application for Continuing Education Credit (CEC) Form in the link below.
