The focus of this course will be on the Bariatric population, as well as medically compromised clientele. The use of powered mobility in Bariatrics is often controversial. A review of the literature, combined with case presentations, will provide argument in support of this based on individual medical needs. Additionally, the medically compromised individual is often overlooked for powered seating, which is often medically necessary. Research will be used to support justification of powered seating with this population, depending on the client’s presentation. Similarly, case presentation will be used to support provision.
